[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The videos on this page are shared by Nancy Muir, a physical therapist, hip dysplasia patient, and Miles4Hips board member. Nancy spent the first few years of her career working in hospitals where she trained patients in these skills on a daily basis. But it wasn’t until she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and actually had to BE a patient that she truly appreciated the challenges of having limited mobility.
These videos provide information about assistive devices and equipment commonly used by adults with hip dysplasia as well as basic education on safe mobility and self-care. These videos may be helpful for reviewing skills and may be espeically helpful for hip dysplasia patients who are preparing for surgery.
All patients should practice these strategies with YOUR therapist to make sure that you are safe and comfortable before doing them on your own. If you do not feel that you can safely perform these activities, talk to your care providers to see if a physical therapist might be able to help you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK3KkCZ95NU” align=”center” title=”Choosing the right crutches for you”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00uZ8ePNWso&t=6s” align=”center” title=”Tips for Sizing Your Crutches “][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg5gpLjbJ9M&t=222s” title=”Walking with Underarm Crutches”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-2EEC2gDuw&t=212s” align=”center” title=”Walking with Forearm Crutches”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDRUs1w0hD4&t=19s” align=”center” title=”Stairs: Handrail + Crutch Technique”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dJHaEyTBQ4&t=15s” align=”center” title=”Stairs: Two Crutch Technique”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22YurP78ZKE&t=19s” align=”center” title=”Stairs: The Seated “Bump“ Technique”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH7J7zETb3s&t=14s” align=”center” title=”Lower Body Dressing After Hip Surgery”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
