Alexis is one of our youngest patient advocates at Miles4Hips. Alexis’ had a rare, late diagnosis of bilateral dislocated hips, which were not discovered until she was six years old! Alexis underwent extensive surgeries on both hips to rebuild her sockets and realign her femurs. She has made a remarkable recovery and continues to defy the odds with all that she does!

Alexis and her family have been active in Miles4Hips activities and events for the past few years including joining in our annual Day of Movement festivities and sharing their perspectives and experiences during one of our annual Team Week interviews.
However, Alexis and her family’s advocacy goes beyond Miles4Hips, and they recently had the opportunity to share their story with a local news channel.
Alexis is an inspiration to many, including her surgeon! Her surgeon did the 2-day Courage Classic bike ride this year on the “Bony Express” team in honor of Alexis! The Courage Classic is an annual bike tour in the Rocky Mountains to funds for Children’s Hospital Colorado to support research, clinical care, and community outreach. Alexis and her family spent a special weekend in the mountains cheering on her surgeon and other riders and showing the world how perseverance and resiliency work! Way to go, Alexis, family, Dr. Selberg, and Bony Express Team!
