Plain-Language Research Summaries

We know that accessing, reading, and interpreting medical research articles can be challenging. Reading and critically appraising (determining if it is “good” evidence to guide practice) can be challenging for many seasoned medical providers and it CERTAINLY is a challenge for patients and family members who often feel like they don’t “speak the same language” that is used in many of these articles.

At Miles4Hips we want to help improve this by taking pertinent hip-dysplasia medical literature and translating it into plain-language terminology so that everyone can understand what is being said (and not said). We are early in this process, but will keep adding article summaries as we can.

We are always looking for patients, medical providers, and community members who have skills to read and critically appraise hip dysplasia research and who can translate it into plain language summaries. If you or someone you know is interested in helping grow this project, please contact us at miles4hips@gmail.com.

Also, if there are research articles that you find and want help understanding, please don’t hesistate to reach out to us. We would be happy to have one of our members review it with you and/or find someone to develop a plain-language summary.
