Fundraise With the Day of Movement

Turn your movement into support for a cause that matters to you.

The Day of Movement brings people around the world together to move and raise awareness of hip dysplasia.

For some participants, it’s also an opportunity to give back.

If you’d like to use Day of Movement to raise funds for a hip-related nonprofit or cause that is meaningful to you, you can create your own Day of Movement fundraiser.

It doesn’t have to be a big or formal event. You decide what makes sense for you and your community.

What could my fundraiser look like?

Almost anything!

You might:

  • Invite friends and family to join you for a walk, hike, run, ride, or roll
  • Organize an informal meetup at a local park
  • Host a yoga, fitness, or movement class
  • Create a personal movement or mileage challenge
  • Organize an activity through your clinic, workplace, school, or community
  • Take on a meaningful personal challenge and invite others to support you
  • Come up with something completely your own

You can invite two people or 200. Your event can last 20 minutes or all day.

The Day of Movement is intentionally flexible.

Choose a cause

You choose the hip-related organization or cause you would like your fundraiser to support.

This might be an organization that supported you or your family, an organization, hospital, or surgeon practice doing work that matters to you, or a cause within the hip dysplasia community that you would like to help advance. If you need help identifying an organization or program, please reach out and we would be happy to help brainstorm or connect you with different options.

Miles4Hips does not collect or distribute donations on behalf of individual Day of Movement fundraisers. Instead, we’ll link supporters directly to the donation page for the organization you have chosen.*

*Additional requirements or restrictions may apply to organizations or fundraising activities. Contact us before advertising your fundraiser so we can make sure we’re all on the same page.

What do you do?

We want to make it easier for you to tell people what you’re doing and why it matters.

For approved Day of Movement fundraisers, we can create a personalized page on our website that you can share with your community.

Your page can include:

  • Your name or team name
  • Your story
  • Why you’re participating in Day of Movement
  • Information about the cause you’re supporting
  • Details about your activity or event
  • How others can participate
  • Photos you’d like to share
  • A link to the beneficiary organization’s official donation page

We’ll provide you with the link so you can share your Day of Movement page with friends, family, and your community.

We may also help amplify Day of Movement fundraisers through our social media channels when appropriate.

What do I do?

You are the organizer of your local activity or fundraiser.

That means you’re responsible for planning and managing the activity itself, including things such as choosing the location, communicating with participants, and determining whether your activity requires any permissions, reservations, insurance, waivers, or other arrangements.

You’ll also provide us with the information we need to create your Day of Movement page.

We provide the Day of Movement platform and help tell your story, but we do not organize or supervise independently hosted activities.

How do donations work?

Donations should go directly to the organization you’re supporting.

Miles4Hips cannot collect donations, but we will include the beneficiary organization’s official donation link on your Day of Movement page.

That keeps the process simple and helps ensure donations go directly where they’re intended.

Ready to get started?

You don’t need to have everything figured out before contacting us.

Send us a message at miles4hips@gmail.com and tell us:

  1. A little about you
  2. What you’re thinking about doing
  3. The organization or cause you’d like to support
  4. Why that cause is meaningful to you
  5. When and where you hope to participate, if you know

We’ll connect with you about next steps and the information we’ll need to build your page.

Keep it simple.

You don’t need to organize a race.

You don’t need hundreds of participants.

You don’t need to raise thousands of dollars.

A few friends taking a walk together and supporting an organization that matters to you can be a Day of Movement fundraiser.

Move your way. Tell your story. Raise awareness. Support a cause that matters to you.
