Dr. Pablo Castañeda

Pablo Castañeda, MD is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and the Chief of International and Destination Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital. He is also the current director of the International Hip Dysplasias Institute. Dr. Castaneda began his career in Mexico City before moving to the United States, and he shares his experiences with hip dysplasia care in both healthcare systems.

With almost two decades of impactful service in Mexico and New York, Dr. Castañeda has demonstrated unwavering dedication to pediatric musculoskeletal health. His primary focus includes problems of the hip, including hip dysplasia, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, and slipped upper femoral epiphysis, emphasizing early diagnosis and intervention for optimized patient outcomes. Notably, he has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications centered on pediatric hip issues.

As a member of esteemed organizations (see list below), Dr. Castañeda remains at the forefront of advancements in his field. He played a pivotal role as a founding member of the International Hip Dysplasia Institute and is currently the Medical Director for this organization.
